CASE STUDY FIRE DETECTION AND EXTINGUISHING FOR BUSES
Test purpose
Test location
TMB Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona
Test’s components
Inside the test-box 3 braziers have been placed at different heights (fire spread to the whole volume), inside of which it is ignited a mixture of gasoline, diesel fuel and water, so that to simulate the typical conditions inside an engine compartment. Actually, the evaporating water creates an interference on the spread of the aerosol.
On the top of the test-box 2 linear heat detection cables are positioned, which constitute the detection of a fire in the logic of “double consent” to avoid unwanted discharges.
The first sensor alarm activates a signaling of pre-alarm, the second generates an alarm in the central, initiating the shutdown procedure.
For a correct volumetric distribution and saturation of the test-box they have been installed 2 dispensers of 100 gr in a diametrically opposite position.
The test is performed with a concentration of 169 gr/mc.
It is composed of a Domino SAS-CU central unit with electromechanical panel to which the detecting lines are connected, L1 and L2, together with the line of extinction that manages the two aerosol generators. The system is supervised by the touch-screen panel Domino SAS TOUCH 3.5 that allows the calibration of the system and an immediate supervision.
Test’s steps
- Preparation of braziers
- Powering of the 3 points
- Closing the front door
- Waiting first alarm (display Touch Screen)
- Waiting second alarm – ALARM
- Start Count-down (5 sec.)
- Discharge Aerosol Generators (15 sec)
- Check extinguishing
